Formentera Beach Villa
Here are the details of Casa Ana, my Formentera Beach Villa, with photographs taken in 2008/9 following its renovation and refurnishing. There are now also photographs of the new bathroom completed January 2011
Casa Ana is about one km from San Fernando on a side road off the La Sabina to La Mola main road and is only 150 metres from the sea. It has spacious, tranquil terraces for outdoor eating and as it was until recently a private residence, its furnishing and equipment is much much better than is usually found in holiday accommodation, as is clearly shown by the photographs. Over the winter 2010/2011, the bathroom has been enlarged and modernised, electrically operated gates and a sophisticated camera and alarm system have been installed.
Of particular benefit during the hotter months of July and August is air conditioning in the lounge and main bedroom.
Towels and bed linen are provided and changed weekly, however visitors are required to bring their own beach towels. Transport such as a car or scooter is preferable and I recommend CarHire3000 (now called rentalcars.com). They claim to beat the price for a similar vehicle from any other company. My holiday villa accomodation
Accommodation is in two bedrooms - one with double bed the other with two singles. There is a modern toilet with shower, kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine & dish-washer. Outside there is a built in barbecue on the rear terrace and a covered eating area with table and chairs. In the lounge there is Satelite TV, DVD player and music centre.
Should you not wish to cook or barbecue, there are many fantastic local restaurants, both in the towns and close to the beaches.
The location of Casa Ana Holiday Villa
There are views of the sea and the nearest sandy beach is on Playa Mitjorn, near to the Blue Bar, about 1000m. The house is set in its own grounds which are walled and gated to give full privacy. There is another house on one side of the garden but open land on the other three sides. A short walk away is Cala En Baster, a beautiful bay that forms a natural swimming pool, ideal for snorkelling and watching the fish. Fishing boats are drawn up on wooden ramps into caves made in the rock face. See the photographs on my gallery page.
A car is recommended for Casa Ana to put all of the island's famous beaches within a 10 minute drive. Like the budget airlines, the earlier you book a car the cheaper the price. I recommend Carhire3000 (now also called rentalcars.com) who offer to beat the price of any other company for the same vehicle. They also make no charges for credit cards or alterations to the reservation, and a booking is confirmed with just a small deposit; the balance being paid shortly before travelling.
